– Of Counsel, Patent Attorney

Description

Mr. Makuch ’s legal career has spanned over two decades and encompassed almost every aspect of IP legal practice including patent preparation and prosecution, litigation in courts and administrative agencies, IP clearance and opinion work, new lawyer development and mentoring, and educational outreach to clients and professional and trade groups.

With the benefit of experience in all of these aspects of IP law, Mr. Makuch has refocused his current practice on the work he enjoys most: preparing and prosecuting patent applications on complex and demanding technologies. He enjoys immersing himself in new technologies and working closely with engineers to gain a deep understanding of their inventions. Mr. Makuch then prepares patent applications with a view to the prosecution, enforcement, and licensing that may be encountered over the life of a patent.

Mr. Makuch has drafted patent applications in a wide range of technologies. Some of his most extensive experience has been in the following technologies: volatile and non-volatile memories including memory cell structures and IC processing, sense amplifiers, drivers, read and write logic, and memory interfaces; high-speed interconnects including drivers and receivers, phase-locked loops, delay-locked loops, clock recovery circuits, serializers/deserializers and transmission line compensation circuits; analog IC design including low noise amplifiers, RF mixers, RF power detectors, logarithmic amplifiers, exponential amplifiers, and interpolators; digital signal processing including DSP applications such as digital TV, maximum power point tracking, and image processing.

In addition to his current client practice, Mr. Makuch is also an adjunct faculty member at Lewis & Clark Law School where he mentors law students representing clients at the law school’s USPTO certified legal clinic.
